The Mermaid & The Cow - a poem
It’s a love story
Between the land and the sea
An unlikely pairing
Of moonstruck mermaid
Catching sight of the bold and daring cow
As she jumped over the moon…
And the rambunctious adventuring cow
Thinking she was enjoying a special private moment
Exalting her world
Noticed…out of the corner of her eye
A silky, shimmering beauty gazing from the azure sea
In amazement at her
Awestruck, they managed somehow to meet
Down to earth and close to shore
Mermaid now the one to take a chance
Invited the brown-eyed cow
In for a swim with her
“Oh what the hell”, the Jersey cow said
And jumped in the icy, rolling waves
Alongside her new friend
“I’ll keep you warm and safe”, the mermaid said,
And promptly wrapped herself round the big brown cow,
K eeping them both comfortably afloat
“This feels good”, each one thought to herself
And smiling at each other, proceeded to
Nuzzle and stroke and explore one another
Letting themselves go…
In the glorious discovery of "queer" love
So they frolicked and they played
Ducking and diving and splashing for hours
Basking in the sun and riding the waves
Of lust and new-found love
“I want to be with you as much as I can”, said the
cow
And the mermaid agreed
So they merged their lives and their ways
To the end of their love-filled days
